selfMade .10 (bDizzo): On Camera Holders & Picture Takers

selfMade .10 (bDizzo), originally uploaded by Born Divine.
I didn't enter this field saying that I wanted to be a photographer. I walked into a photography studio a young rapper picking up contact sheets from an album cover photo shoot.

In a previous interview I said that I still have to come to terms with accepting the title photographer over my head. I didn't go to school for photography until 2 years after I had already been shooting with Sharp Shooters, a photography group in Miami. I'm saying this because some folks got big EGO about being a photographer. And I'm guessing at the smell of fear, they make insecure statements about up and coming photographers or camera holders and picture takers.

If you wish to take pictures, get to snapping. Post your images, let people talk about you and the images - this builds skill. A comment like, "that shit sucks" is something you pay no attention to. A comment like "hey, cool shot but, you're slightly out of focus - did you try to do that?" is what you want to pay attention to.

Overall, shoot for you. You'll find that it's not about the perfect, school taught, how to take a portrait shot. That's for those in a box. Someone is going to come up to you and appreciate your work. And be willing to pay you for your time and artistry. Trust me.

gbFUNK: Working With Gabrielle

gbFUNK_0020, originally uploaded by Born Divine.
Working with Gabrielle is always a pleasure. I respect her respect for the camera and the craft. She responds in a way, letting the photographer know that it's not all about her - that it takes the genius of both the model and the photographer to get the best results in a shoot.

Title: The Prospect!!!
